Capsize statistics, 100% crew error. There have been three capsize events, Randy on #2 in California, Charlie on #12 in Flordia, and Dave on #15 in Ohio. To date, twenty R33 catamarans have been built, sixteen are sold.

I have been sailing on the R33 catamarans from hull(s) #1, I own #11. Having first hand knowledge regarding the extensive testing of both beam width and spar height, the R33 One-Design at 14'beam and 48'mast is the racing model. The R33 can be configured for the local conditions (higher winds = wider beam & the 60% main; lower winds = less beam and full main). The 14' and 16' beam configurations fit on the trailer; a class racing R33 should carry both configurations.
R33s #2 and #8 are the turbo models at 17'beam and 54'mast.
Here is R33 #5 in Hawaii...
Two people can operate the boat. ORCA rules require three for a daysail and four for overnight racing.
