Farr 40 infinity (in KW) Log-In to Post/Reply

Does anyone know the story? Why does John Thompson's Farr 40, which he used to call Solution now go by Infinity?

I remember back in the IMS and IOR days, all of his boats were called Infinity. I guess it worked, they won race two.

"Infinity" has been the primary name for Thomson's boats for 30 years. When the IMS 50' Infinity was still around he bought a Farr 40 (one of the first ones, I think) and named it Solution (maybe after the famous big boat of the NYYC in the late 1800's?) so as not to have two boats with the same name. He no longer has the IMS 50' and now his Farr 40 is back to the name Infinity.
