Head Instructor, Race Coach and Instructors - LI North Shore Log-In to Post/Reply

Centerport Yacht Club (CYC) is seeking Sailing Instructors, a Head Sailing Instructor, and a Head Race Coach for the 2018 Summer Junior Sailing Program. The Junior Sailing Program at CYC fosters an inclusive community for sailors and families. Our program provides sailors the opportunity to experience racing, adventure sailing, paddling, and other fun activities in the marine environment. We offer half and full summer programs for Optimist, Blue Jay, Ideal 18, RS Feva, Laser, and C420 sailors from beginner to advanced skill levels. Our racing teams have historically been competitive at JSALIS events and beyond. Sailing Instructor applicants should have experience teaching sailors who range in age from 5 - 18 in single and double-handed dinghies. Collegiate level racing and keelboat experience are a plus. Head Sailing Instructor and Head Race Coach applicants should have extensive experience working with sailors of various ages and skill levels. Applicants should be independently motivated self-starters with a keen eye for risk management. Prior management experience is a plus. Some travel will be required for the Head Race Coach.
Sailing Instructors at CYC are required to maintain the following certifications:
- US Sailing Small Boat Sailing Instructor - Level One* (Level 2 or better for Head Sailing Instructor and Head Race Coach)
- US Sailing/US Powerboating - Safe Powerboat Handling*
- US Sailing/US Powerboating - Safety, Rescue, and Support Boat Handling*
- New York State/NASBLA Safe Boating Card*
- First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or BLS for Healthcare Providers*
- Center for Disease Control - HEADS UP Concussion Management Training

*If you are missing any of the certifications listed above, training will be available at CYC in the spring of 2018.
In addition to a competitive salary (commensurate with experience), lunch is provided by the club daily. Housing may be available for non-local instructors spending the summer with us. With a popular keelboat racing community, opportunities to race will be available on Huntington Bay and Northport Bay. The local racing community consists of Ensigns, J80s, J105s, Stars and many PHRF boats.
