Port Washington Yacht Club is seeking a creative, well organized, hardworking individual who is eager to share their knowledge and love of sailing and racing with our Adult Sailing Program as Waterfront Program Adult Sailing Instructor. This hands on role will work in a key capacity to support the Club in the following areas:
Racing/Sailing Instructor PWYC (Near NYC)

Liaison with Club Chair and Volunteer Committee to actively participate in the promotion of all training, social and competitive sailing activities undertaken by the club.
Assist with light maintenance of fleet and equipment in season
Assist with the rigging of boats to get ready for the season and to assist in the winterizing of boats to get ready for winter season.
Supervise Tuesday evening race instruction, racing rules and strategy in Adult Sailing Program, specifically on Ideal 18s.
Schedule sailing lessons with adults on Ideal 18, Catamarans, and Lasers, although not limited to said boats in the future.
All Sailing Instructors staff members are expected to be responsible, safety conscious, exhibit strong sailing skills, and communicate well with club members.
Applicant must demonstrate the following level of experience:
Knowledge of, but not limited to, Ideal 18s, Catamarans, and Lasers.
A capacity to work unsupervised to deliver the requirements of instruction and maintenance.
Knowledge of racing rules, strategy and able to demonstrate to Adults in Sailing Program.
Applicant must have:
A sense of humor
US Sailing Level 1 Certification
US Safe Sailing Power Boat Certification
The Season will run Mid June through Mid Sept for 20 weeks. Tuesday 12:30-8:30, (Tuesday Evenings until 8:30), Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. 10:00am 6:00pm. Salary is competitive and based on a minimum of 2 years sailing instruction experience.
