Middlebury, Vermont, with a population of over 8,000 people, sits in the Champlain Valley between the Green and Adirondack Mountains. The area offers a range of outdoor activities, educational opportunities, and great local food and drink. Lake Dunmore, the current venue of the sailing team, is in Salisbury, less than 20 minutes from campus and one hour from Burlington.
The Middlebury College Sailing Club is a club team led by student-athletes and a professional coach. The team sails a fleet of 12 FJs purchased in 2008 on Lake Dunmore. Funding for the team comes from an annual budget provided by the Middlebury College Student Government Association, as well as the generous support of the families and alumni through The Friends of Middlebury Sailing Fund. With a roster of twenty-five sailors of varying ability, the team practices Monday to Thursday and travels each weekend in the fall and spring NEISA seasons. The team is currently ranked 19th and has qualified for NEISA dinghy championships three out of the past four years. MCSC aspires to welcome new sailors and improve the team by establishing a stronger position within the ranks of NEISA.
The Sailing Club Coach shall provide coaching to the Middlebury College Sailing Club, attend and supervise all practices and competitions, including travel to and coaching at regattas and assisting club members with their sailing technique to the end of improving their sailing ability.
This position is contract based, without benefits, offering competitive payment during the collegiate sailing seasons (Sept, Oct and April, May)
