Serious Flaws with Raymarine C & E Radar Log-In to Post/Reply

I am concerned that the Raymarine C & E series has serious design flaws that will result in death. The retailer has agreed to exchange the unit I purchased for another brand. My purpose in sending this email to you is to save lives.

I purchased the Raymarine C70 because I need to compensate for being shorthanded during ocean passages. I often find that crew becomes ill for several days at the start of a voyage, and when weather gets rough. As a result, I find myself essentially sailing singlehanded for days on end. I needed a radar system that would allow me to catch up on sleep without compromising safety. Unfortunately, the unit I selected, the Raymarine C70, has a design flaw that causes it to silently stop working without warning. This flaw, confirmed by Raymarine’s tech support personnel, can be found in the entire C and E series of Raymarine display units. Although Raymarine admits that many people have reported the problem, they deny any responsibility for the issue.

Mike Slinn
