Own a piece of Sailing History. This was Doug Peterson's personal boat in the early 1980s. Known and "The Beer Can Boat" it was designed for, and sailed in, the Wednesday Night "Beer Can Racing" in San Diego.

The boat is 1800 lbs with 650 lbs of ballast, one of the original "Sportboats". Hull is cold molded Western Red Cedar, with mahogany structure, by Kerry Geraghty at Geraghty Marine.

The boat was subsequently re-keeled with a bulb keel by Alan Andrews (ex Peterson employee) and was converted to Assymetric Spinnakers on a retractable carbon prob by me (another ex-Peterson employee).

The rig is an Etchells mast, but with a 13 foot carbon boom. The spinnaker hoist is 6 feet above the standard Etchells hoist and a 15 foot Jc for the Assymetric. It also has a symmetric spinnaker and oversized pole if you want to run deep.

The boat is equipped with North 3D sails.

There are 3 sets of trapeze wires if you want to rig the boat for the traps it was originally designed to use.

The boat had a new plywood deck professionally installed in 2008, and the hull was painted at the same time. The deck layout was redesigned with mostly new fittings (Harken) at that time.

Downwind the boat is an absolute rocket, achieving 20+knots easily.

The 16 foot open cockpit makes daysailing fun and crew work easy. Can be singlehanded under main alone like a giant Laser.

Sits on a good single axle yard trailer at ABYC in Long Beach, Ca.

Why pay 2x to 5x the price for other sportboats that go the same speed? Make an offer, possible financing/partnership.
