We had many quality applications this year. The Canadian 49er class association had a difficult time deciding which team should receive the boat grant this year but have finally come to a decision.

Sam Gustin and Ian Woodbury, Canadian 29er team and 2012 29er North American champions. Team WoodburyGustin Sailing is competitive internationally in the 29er class, with experience in the 29erXX and 49er class. They are an asset to the 49er class in Canada, bringing grit, determination, and never give up attitude to the fleet. They are using this year's boat grant as an easy way to get into the 49er fleet in Canada having a chance to bring the West Coast talent East. They plan to base themselves in Kingston, Ontario for the 2013 sailing season and to compete in all available 49er regattas.

"We compete to improve, and aim for excellence. We are currently the 29er North American champions, and the only boat to represent Canada at the European and World Championships in 2012," said Ian Woodbury of learning about his team's selection for this year's boat grant.

Many thanks again to all our applicants. Hope to see you on the water soon!

Best Regards,
