I understand that the 98ft maxi's depend on engine powered hydraulics. That's fine if the owners in that class all agree, but is it fair to leave them in the hunt for overall corrected-time honors on that basis?

Don't most boats depend on engine power to recharge their batteries, which then power the boat instruments, lights, etc?

Some see a distint line that these maxis have crossed, but I see a blurry one.

The line aint blurry.Shut down your engine and youcan still sail your conventional boat and finish the race,do that on a powered canter and your going home(hopefully)or in a power of the brown stuff.
