Morris Yachts Welcomes Its First CEO
BASS HARBOR, MAINE, (December 19, 2011) - Morris Yachts announces the hiring of Doug Metchick as the company's first Chief Executive Officer. In his new role, Metchick will lead and direct business operations and financial practices. In sailing terms, Doug will become Morris Yachts' Tactician. Cuyler Morris continues in the role of President as well as a newly titled position of Chief Development Officer or in sailing terms, the Strategist. Having Doug aboard will allow Cuyler to properly focus on product development, customer relations and key strategic initiatives. Cuyler will also maintain his position on the company's Board.

Metchick joins Morris Yachts with an extensive background of leading and building brands in the sports, outdoor recreation, luxury and packaged goods categories. He most recently served as Executive Director at Dory Ventures, a private equity firm specializing in recreational products and consumer goods. Doug was also the President and founder of Penfield Marketing Group, a Westport CT based sales and marketing consultancy specializing in lifestyle brands, major league sports, and the marine and ski industries. In addition to its strategy work with Morris Yachts, Penfield clients included US Sailing, the US Ski & Snowboard Team, Skip Barber, Major League Baseball, Ernst & Young, Nautor's Swan, The Canyons, Exclusive Resorts, Harpoon Brewery, The New York Times and Waco Classic Aircraft.
Morris Yachts' new CEO position further bolsters the strong management team and Board of Advisors already in place. The five-person Board brings decades of experience to the company in areas of finance, business operations and marketing. Board Member Michael Cook says, "Having Doug at the helm ensures that Morris Yachts is even further positioned to achieve continued business success and market share gains."
