Olympic Scoring Poll Log-In to Post/Reply

There is a poll on the Scuttlebutt website regarding the ISAF proposal that may change the way sailing is scored in the Olympics. Vote here: http://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/polls/05/1102/

I voted "no" I think that given the media-focus and the technology, particularly tape delay and the practice of packaging events as "shows" that the producers would be able to make as good a show no matter how the scoring sequences. No one, other than true fans, are going to watch a full event, or probably even a single race from start to finish. What if the last race is a drifter? That would turn people off sailing. Unfortunately, it has to be packaged differently. Show the attractive highlights, tell a story. It isn't easy and yes it is packaged, but that is what the "audience" is looking for.

I voted "Yes" given that NYYC voted "No" as doing things the opposite to NYYC is bound to be better for our sport.

Amazing that this thread went cold so fast. .... I guess no one really cares that much about the olympics (this time of year/in the quadrennial)

Yes, seems to have little impact on the majority of sailors.
