Receiving the certification award on behalf of the Racine Yacht Club were past Vice Commodore Quentin Rench and Commodore Charlie Manning. According to Rench, "The award represents a lot of work by the officers and members of our Yacht Club. As a charter member of the Wisconsin Marina Association, we felt it was important to be part of the development of the practices which protect our waters."
Manning added, "The award is important to the Club, but more important to those who follow us at the Club and this great resource, Lake Michigan. As our organization prepares for the second hundred years, we must be certain that we not only preserve, but improve, this harbor for our children."
The Racine Yacht Club is the first yacht club to join the ranks of 10 other Certified Clean Marinas throughout Wisconsin. There are over 260 clubs and marina facilities in the state.
