Subject: obituary for Mark Ewing, Yachtsman and sailboat racer
Mark Clayton Ewing, 75 of Hanover, NH died May 8, 2012 at home with family after a brief illness with cancer. Mark was born in Neenah Wisconsin on February 20, 1937.
Mark leaves behind his devoted wife Marilyn Ewing, son Mark Ewing and wife Margaret of Claremont, NH, son William Ewing and wife Gemma of Weeki Wachee, FL, daughter Sarah Reynolds and granddaughter Carly of Claremont, NH, step-son Eric Emery and wife Andrea and granddaughter Ayela of Quechee, VT, sister Marcia Tuthill and husband Howard of Oak Park Heights, MN, mother-in-law Marilyn Brzica of Sarasota, FL and ex-wife Judy Ewing of Claremont, NH. Mark had 4 nieces and nephews and 10 grand nieces and nephews. Mark is predeceased by his parents Janet and Clayton Ewing, son-in-law Ronald Reynolds and nephew Clayton Tuthill.
Mark was educated at Deerfield Academy, Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School. He was an accomplished world class sailboat racer; including several trans-Atlantic races, the Bermuda Race and races on the Chesapeake Bay and the Great Lakes.
His business experience included the founding of several businesses; Nautor Sailboat Inc., and Lyme Angler of Hanover, NH. He had also been V.P. of Palmer Johnson.
Mark was a great outdoorsman and loved fly fishing, camping, hunting, sailing and canoeing. He was most at home in the wilderness and will be remembered as a loyal friend.
Mark loved his family and nothing made him happier than spending time with them.
A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hanover, NH, Saturday May 26, 2012 at 1 p.m. Donations in Mark's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Roy Funeral Home handled the arrangements for the family.
