PRESS RELEASE North Sails One Design launches new breathable fabric cover range
4 August 2011 – North Sails One Design, the world leading sailmaker for one-design classes, has launched a brand new range of breathable boat covers. Manufactured to the highest quality standards using high performance materials, the new cover range is available for a growing range of one design dinghy and small keelboat classes, and offers the ultimate level of protection for hulls, spars and foils.
Using WeatherMax fabric to provide enhanced breathability and maximum water resistance, North Sails One Design Covers are highly durable and lightweight. A range of top and bottom covers are available, with over-boom and trailing options.
Each cover has been carefully designed by North Sails One Design team of experts to ensure a perfect fit, with generous skirts and ergonomic fastenings featuring throughout. Thanks to the monofilament fibres used in WeatherMax fabric, the material retains high elasticity under tension, which ensures the cover maintains its precise shape; this helps prevent water pooling on the top of the cover as well as eliminating flapping when the boat is being trailed.
This high-strength WeatherMax material is shrink-resistant due to its stability, which additionally means it won’t stretch over time. WeatherMax also resists fading when exposed to UV. Its impregnated water-resistant HydroMax finish includes an anti-microbial component to prevent dirt and staining, and provides a soft-touch feel which ensures minimal abrasion on contact with deck or hull surfaces. Lock-seams feature throughout to prevent water ingress.
The North Sails One Design Cover range offers not just superior performance and protection – they look good too. Available in a stylish silver for top covers and charcoal for bottom covers, North Sails One Design Cover range features striking graphics and the distinctive Norths Sails logo. The light colours have been deliberately selected to reduce heat build-up under the cover which, together with the breathable nature of WeatherMax, helps to prevent condensation build up, osmosis, and mould and mildew growth underneath the cover.
Throughout, each cover benefits from meticulous attention to detail, with details such as pintel and shroud point apertures carefully positioned and reinforced with eye-catching black detailing.
The North Sails One Design team have chosen Nexus buckles and fastenings to give the user peace of mind that the cover is securely fitted, thanks to their robust locking mechanism and excellent load tensioning. Each is stamped with the distinctive North Sails logo, and the smooth faceted buckles are specially designed to prevent jamming in gritty or sandy environments.
The new North Sails One Design Cover range includes padded spar bags and foil bags, also made from fully breathable WeatherMax fabric. Whether it’s a carbon fibre mast or an epoxy foil, these high quality accessories guarantee maximum protection for storage or transportation.
The new range is being introduced after more than a year of design, development and research undertaken by the North Sails One Design team of experts.
