Marchal Sailmakers opens in San Francisco Bay Area

Longtime Bay Area Sailmaker Dominic Marchal has opened his own sail loft, Marchal Sailmakers, in Alameda. Located at the site formerly occupied by Rooster Sails in the Alaska Packers building at Grand Marina, Marchal Sailmakers will primarily be a sail repair and service loft. Marchal says by concentrating on sail repair it allows him to offer a more timely and cost effective way of doing sail service than a bigger production loft can provide.
Dominic Marchal has been a sailmaker for over twenty-five years both here in the Bay Area as well as internationally. He also spent several years with the Italian America’s Cup team Prada as one of their sailmakers, traveling with the team between Italy and New Zealand. An avid sailor he has spent thousands of hours on the water as both a racer and a cruiser and is uniquely qualified to understand the needs of all kinds of sailors.
