November 30, 2009 SCOOT Completes Seat Trials
Nelson/Marek announced today that SCOOT, the Nelson/Marek Design 137 has completed her Sea Trials in Narragansett Bay.
SCOOT, was commissioned by Mr. Dale Phelon of Nantucket in the early fall of 2008 after he was unable to find a production day-sailor that suited his layout and performance requirements. The commission was awarded after Phelon decided to pursue a custom project and met with New England Boatwork’s (NEB) Tom Rich and Nelson/Marek’s (NMYD) Greg Stewart on Labor Day 2008. At this meeting, Phelon explained the type of day-sailor he wanted and stated his requirement that the boat had to be designed and built in America. The team got on well, the ideas flowed, and Phelon commissioned a push button 55 foot day-sailor!!
