Highlander National Championship 2009

LaSalle, Michigan (July 19-22, 2009) – The Highlander National Championship was held at North Cape Yacht Club just north of Toledo, Ohio on the western end of Lake Erie. The weeks started off with a Master's Series, which was won by Dennis Dieball (Toledo, Ohio). The Championship included 7 great races which were run by NCYC's hometown PRO, David Shaffer. With mid-summer steady seabreeze of 10-14 & 2-3 foot waves, the Highlander sailors loved the challenge the venue dished up. Skip Dieball (LaSalle, MI) with crew Laurie Dieball & Andy Nixon won the series over his brother Ernie Dieball (Toledo, OH) with crew Jim Allen & Crissy Corley, who finished 2nd. Rounding out the top 3 was Tyler Andrews (Bloomington, IN) and crew Kayleigh White & Phil Tate.
Sarah Paisley (Newton Falls, OH) won the Women’s Championship. Tyler Allen (Walled Lake, MI) won the Junior Championship.
