2010 Heineken High Performance Dinghy Open, October 9 - 10 The 2010 Heineken HPDO regatta will be held this Columbus Day Weekend (October 9 and 10th) at American Yacht Cub, Rye New York (www.americanyc.org). Last year approximately 100 boats registered for the event and this year we expect to have at least 120 boats. The following classes have been invited: 505, F-18, A-Cat, International Canoe, RS-K6, Viper 640, International Moths (foiling), Fireball, Flying Dutchman, International Tempest, 470 & 49er and International Contender. Last year, this regatta attracted competitors from all over North America and Europe and this year will be no exception. The dedication of the classes to the Heineken HPDO is further supported by their use of the regatta as part of their regatta series. The Heineken HPDO is the final regatta of the EFG Pan American Championships for the Viper 640 class who are expecting to be represented by up to 40 boats this year. It also serves as the U.S. National Championship for the K6 class which boasts 20 boats at American Yacht Club alone (the largest single sportboat fleet in North America), and is part of their fall series which culminates in the K6 International Cup (two weeks later) with teams from Germany and the UK competing. AYC will be hosting that event as well. The NOR and Online Entry by for the 2010 Heineken HPDO are posted at www.americanyc.com and http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=369 respectively. The Event Website is: www.hpdo.org Competitors are encouraged to sign up early to help the organizers and ensure you get the shirt size you want. The Heineken HPDO was inaugurated in 2004, by John Wyles at American Yacht Club. The event is open to all sailing classes who have a Portsmouth Yacht Handicap of 87 or faster. The regatta is held annually on Columbus Day Weekend at American Yacht Club in Rye, New York. Contact: Regatta Chair - Carina McCabe - carina.mccabe@gmail.com.
