Why another "hall of fame"? Log-In to Post/Reply
I suppose it is economics for a few, along with pride of place, that drives Annapolis to create "another" hall of fame...I guess they needed to one-up the A/C Hall in Bristol, and the Museum of Yachting in Newport, both of which are fascinating, rainy-day-long visits. I suppose that Annapolis' distance from RI (and MD's gov't money) will make it a fine place to go, but it seems a shame to have them "compete" against very fine organizations that have been working on private funding and valued volunteers for so long.

I agree completely and really do not understand what good it does for the "sailing community" within the US to do such. However, I am learning that with the quietness comes a certain amount of confidence . . . Newport (New England Sailing) does not need to yell and scream or make a fuss over this. The history and accompishments of the region stand for themselves. The talent that has emerged from the area and the strong industry roots . . . I no longer get fired up about the hall of fame topic anymore. I feel rather confident I am in the heart of it all right here in New England. Smile
