For immediate release November 17, 2009 US Sailing Center Sheboygan announces 2010 schedule SHEBOYGAN, Wis., -- US Sailing championships and a Grade 1 women’s match racing event are the highlights of the 2010 US Sailing Center Sheboygan event schedule, released this week. The US Sailing Men’s Championship for the Mallory Trophy and the US Sailing Women’s Championship for the Adams Cup will be held September 22 to 25 in Sonars for men and Lightnings for women. Also in September, the center will host its 2nd Annual Buddy Melges Challenge, which will be a Grade 1 match racing event in 2010. One of only four Grade 1 women’s match racing events in the United States, the regatta is expected to draw teams from all over the world to compete in the center’s fleet of Elliott 6m’s, the boat that will be used for the 2012 Olympic women’s match racing event. The center will also hold the US Women’s Match Racing Championship July 7-11. The winner of this event will receive an invitation to the Buddy Melges Challenge. Several other events are on tap for summer 2010 at the US Sailing Center Sheboygan, including the Area K qualifiers for the US Sailing Men’s and Women’s Championships and the US Match Racing Championship. The center’s Northern Lights Cup includes a two day clinic led by WIMRA instructors followed by a three-day regatta beginning May 27. The 2nd annual Youth Match Racing Camp and Regatta will be held June 23-27. US Sailing match racing coach Dave Perry will again lead the three-day clinic followed by a two-day regatta. Dave’s intense format consisting of class time, drills both on and off the water teaching match race skills and practice races is great preparation for any team considering match racing.
