Newbie , how to get a crew position Log-In to Post/Reply

Hi alll, I am a newbie here, and a beginning sailor. I am located in Nova Scotia , Canada , own a Tartan 30 tall rig, and I am lucky to be crewing on a cc 39 under Captain Orval Banfield, who is a former captain of the Bluenose II.

I am semi retired and will be fully retired in a couple of years , will be spending more time south in the winters now. I am thinking of attending the Key West race week this year. I am wondering if I just show up there what my chances would be for finding a crew position ? Do you think I might be lucky enough to find a spot ?

Would appreciate any info that would help me to get on a boat .

I could go to a regatta in other regions this winter to crew

thanks for any advise
