Need help - Old Stars Log-In to Post/Reply

Hi All

I'm a great grand nephew of Ike Smith, builder of 82 Stars including the 1st 22 built in 1911.

I'm doing research for a documentary on the Stars for the 100th anniversary.

I need some help from the sailing community to reach out and connect with people who may have historical photos, correspondence or other material related to the early days of the Stars.

I'm especially interested in finding out if there are any of the first 22 Stars surviving outside of #7 Ceti, which is at Mystic Seaport, #2, Shasta, owned by Hugh Mahaffy and #17, Little Dipper, owned by John Finch, which is slated for a full restoration.

I've also created a Facebook page for the owners of wood Stars to get together. I'm hoping we can create a registry of all of the existing woodies out there.

The Larchmont Yacht Club is planning a 100th Anniversary Regatta in Sept 2011 and they're hoping to be able to have a wood division.

John Finch is planning to sail Little Dipper there, fully restored including the original gaff rig.

I'm also interested in hearing from individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring the film either in $$$ or services. PM me if interested.

Dave Smith
