WIN AN AFTERNOON OF SAILING FOR TWO ABOARD PUMA’S VOLVO 70, IL MOSTRO

Celebrate youth sailing and enjoy a sail around Newport with skipper Ken Read aboard Puma’s 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race entry. Proceeds will benefit youth sailing at Greenwich Bay Sailing Association.

Ken Read has announced plans to donate an afternoon of sailing for two aboard PUMA’s il mostro, the Volvo 70 that captured second place in the 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race. The winning pair will join Ken Read and the Puma Ocean Racing team for an afternoon sail around Newport and the surrounding area. “Sailing has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember,” said Ken. “Supporting an organization like GBSA in their efforts to introduce young boys and girls to the sport of sailing seemed a fitting tribute to a sport which has brought me so much joy.”

Greenwich Bay Sailing Association plans to award this chance of a lifetime sailing excursion through a lottery system. A limited number of raffle tickets will be offered for sale at a cost of $100 per ticket. Only fifty such lottery tickets will be available for sale. Odds of winning depend on the actual number of raffle tickets sold. Tickets can be bought in advance by contacting Kevin Coughlin at (508) 951-9114 or by going to the GBSA website at www.gbsa.info. The winning ticket will be drawn on June 5th at the GBSA Kids Should Be Sailing Auction. Ticket holder does not need to be present to win.

About GBSA
GBSA’s mission is to introduce children to sailing and help them build confidence and character. Through sailing, young people learn independence, problem solving, self-reliance, discipline and leadership. They gain a sense of respect for themselves and others that will serve them well as sailors and in everything they do throughout their lives. -- http://www.gbsa.info

About Puma Ocean Racing
PUMA’s mission is to be the most desirable sportlifestyle company in the world. With the brand’s entry into the sailing category in 2007, PUMA reinforced our commitment to expand and invest in new product categories. The Volvo Ocean Race is the ideal platform to strengthen PUMA in the sport of sailing, allowing us to build brand awareness and visibility worldwide among a new category of consumers, while remaining cool and relevant to our existing consumer base. To further cement our position within the sailing category, PUMA will continue to produce and expand our line of outdoor sailing performance gear. We will also reprise our role as the official supplier of footwear, clothing, and accessories for the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race.

PUMA is thrilled that Skipper Ken Read and General Manager Kimo Worthington have returned to lead the team once again. Coming in 2nd in the 2008-2009 VOR was a true accomplishment for everyone involved. Kenny is one of the most accomplished Skippers out there and we have tremendous confidence in his ability to lead the team to a strong finish. There are a lot of factors that go into winning a race of this magnitude and many things you can’t foresee in advance (e.g. weather conditions), but we are optimistic about our chances. -- http://www.pumaoceanracing.com
