Junior Sailing instructors wanted! Log-In to Post/Reply

*All Junior Program applicants should apply to Operations Director Andrew Alletag at andrew@community-boating.org, with the position they are applying to in the email title.*

About Community Boating:
Community Boating Inc. is the oldest public sailing facility in the country and serves over 1,500 youth, 4,000 adults, and 400 people with disabilities each year. Working at CBI is one of the most unique and fun opportunities in Junior Sailing – it’s not a camp, and certainly not your typical yacht club. CBI serves children ages 10 and up from throughout the Greater Boston Area, especially children that might not otherwise have the opportunity to sail. Community Boating has fleets of Cape Cod Mercurys, 420s, Lasers, windsurfers, Ideal 18s, Sonars, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards.

Who we're looking for:
Ideal candidates are flexible, able to multi-task, have excellent time management skills, and enjoy a fast-paced environment. All instructors split time between teaching classes and supervising the dock and free sail program and must have a can-do attitude and a willingness to jump in wherever necessary for the good of the program, including teaching classes in other boats if necessary. We are looking for instructors who are team players!

Available Positions:
Beginner and Intermediate Sailing Instructors: will be responsible for teaching beginner and intermediate level classes in Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot centerboard dinghies). US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent) required.

Keelboat Instructor: will be responsible for teaching keelboat sailing and spinnaker classes to experienced dinghy sailors in our fleet of Ideal 18s and Sonars as well as getting new sailors out on the keelboats to gain confidence and comfort in boats. US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent) required, US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification a plus.

Laser Instructor: will be responsible for teaching the Laser Class to sailors who have achieved intermediate sailing skills in Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot centerboard dinghies). US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent) required.

420 Instructor: will be responsible for teaching the 420 Class to sailors who have achieved intermediate sailing skills in the Cape Cod Mercurys (15 foot centerboard dinghies). US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent) required.

Windsurfing and Water Sports Instructor: will be responsible for teaching introductory and advanced windsurfing classes, as well as paddling classes in kayaks and stand up paddle boards. US Sailing Windsurfing Instructor certification (or equivalent) required, launch tender’s license or willingness to obtain a plus.

Environmental Science and Sailing Instructor: will be responsible for running daily environmental science activities and teaching beginner and intermediate level sailing classes in Cape Cod Mercuries (15 foot centerboard dinghies). An interest and excitement about the environment is necessary. Community Boating has many resources for environmental activities, but the environmental science instructor is encouraged to bring new ideas to the program.

2018 Dates:
The 2018 season will run from June 11 – August 24. This includes 10 weeks of programming plus a pre-season week of training.

*All Junior Program applicants should apply to Operations Director Andrew Alletag at andrew@community-boating.org, with the position they are applying to in the email title.*
