USODA Seeks New Optinews Editor/Media Community Manager
Stacie Kress Booker recently notified the USODA Board of Directors that she will be leaving her position as Editor/Publisher of Optinews at the beginning of 2012. Over the past 10 years, Stacie has consistently demonstrated her commitment and dedication to the production of this informative and educational resource for sailors, parents, coaches – our membership and future members. USODA wants to express their deep appreciation to Stacie for her hard work and creative contributions to the magazine over the years and wish her well in her new career endeavors.
USODA is now seeking resumes from qualified individuals who want to be considered for this part-time position. We are currently in the process of revamping the job description to incorporate coordination of our social media sites in addition to the publication of Optinews. Recommended credentials include a background in journalism, communications, marketing, advertising, social media, public relations, and/or copywriting. Individual should have a strong knowledge about sailing and a familiarity with the Optimist class and key issues affecting youth sailing and youth sports in general. A demonstrated proficiency in layout, graphic design and copy editing and Adobe InDesign and Adobe PhotoShop is key. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other emerging tools and applications. Awareness of other sailing related sites to drive synergy, identify opportunities and leverage relationships with their publications and sites. Familiarity with survey/polling tools such as Zoomerang and Survey Monkey is advantageous. This is a paid contracted position with salary plus commission opportunity.
