The Canadian Yachting Association is the National governing body for the sport of sailing in Canada, with a brief that ranges from “Learn to” to Olympic and Paralympic competition. Based in Kingston, Ontario, guided by a voluntary Board of Directors, a small team of dedicated staff manage the day to day business of the association.
CYA is now offering a communications internship suitable for a recent graduate in media/marketing studies. Persons with an interest in sports who are seeking experience, will develop Marketing/PR skills that will enhance career opportunities. 2012 will be particularly interesting as the CYA gears up for the Olympics and Paralympics. There is no remuneration for this position. An allowance may be paid to cover incidental expenses. Sailing experience is an advantage, bi-lingual candidates are preferred.
Communications Intern – Job Brief
Understudying CYA staff in preparing and issuing releases, newsletters and other communications.
Management of media and stakeholder databases
Photo gallery management
Preparation of draft releases
Syndication of releases and photographs
Assisting with press briefings/events
Assisting with design and manufacture of print collateral
Assisting with presentation development:
Updating website
Video & photo gallery online resources
Integrating social media Facebook, Linkedin, You Tube, Twitter,
