Sailing Director - Indian Harbor YC, Greenwich CT

Indian Harbor Yacht Club Greenwich CT, a club with a rich 130 year history of one design and blue water sailing, is looking for a Sailing Director to oversee the operation of all aspects of sailing. This is a year round position and involves a high degree of contact with both the adult and junior membership. It is essential that the Sailing Director be genuinely interested in motivating members of all ages to sail to the best of their abilities. Responsibilities: Organize and run adult sailing programs as follows: - Championship events ( IHYC is hosting Ideal 18 North Americans in 2012);
- Focus on Sailing Program, Ideal 18 program with over 100 participants in related events; commissioning, maintaining and decommissioning Ideal 18 fleet (8 boats);
- Adult sailing instruction (group and private);
- Fleet racing events (beginner and advanced);
- Match racing (intra and inter club events);
- Team Racing (intra inter club events);
- Working with junior sailing program ½ day per week in the summer;
- Liaising with other club sailing directors.
Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. - This position includes health insurance benefits, annual bonus, lesson income and participation in club’s 401 (k) retirement plan as well as vacation time.
Qualifications Required: - The ideal candidate should have at least US Sailing Level I instructor certification.
- A high degree of knowledge and experience in dinghy sailing and racing.
- College degree is preferred.
- Should be competent in basic computer skills.
- Must be knowledgeable of boat care, maintenance, and repair.
- First aid and CPR training from the American Red Cross will be required upon employment.
