What is on your gift list? Log-In to Post/Reply

The holiday season has begun, and now is a good time to get caught up on all the “must have” sailing gear. But what are these items? As we all are trying to figure out what we want, and what others want, we wanted the Scuttlebutt readers to help by commenting on the items they are considering for their sailing gift list.

Reply to this thread to post your list. Your gift list can be realistic, or it can a dream list. After you post your list, you can edit it later as needed, and even use the short-cut link to email your list to those people who are wondering what you want (only one list per person).

As a bonus, Scuttlebutt will randomly pick one gift list each week (for six weeks) and provide a $50 gift certificate for the winner to spend at any of the companies that are included as aClub Supplier on the Scuttlebutt website.
Note: Winners can win only once; the six gift certificates must be used at six different companies; gift lists must be sailing oriented.

Angelic I have been especially good this year and want West Marine or Layline certificates. That way I can get plenty of what I need for any regatta. Specific items would be:

McLube
High tech lines
Anything Sunfish
Stuff for the High School team(ie PFD's and Foulies)

Hard to pinpoint just a few items. That is why the certificates work best.

Maybe seeing Alicia in her new Bikini would be nice also.Blush

I would also like to see more sailors doing race committee and judging in 2007. Had to throw something like that in.

Also... ok-layers and layers of clothing for the winter series. A trip to the pro-am next year. A fully funded Melges 24 campaign (if anyone interested in sponsoring this please let me know). World peace (working on the Kharma angle).Angelic
Sail Often and have fun

What I really want for Christmas:

May be sung to the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”

12 Optimist Dinghies
11 canoes, rowboats and kayaks
10 volunteer instructors (US Sailing certified, of course!)
9 racing markers w/ line and anchor
8 Access Dinghies
7 days of sunshine and wind (to use at my discretion)
6 Club 420s
5 Flying Scots
4 Martin 16’s (outfitted for “full-access”)
3 well heeled, well connected, like-minded locals for Board of Directors
2 RIBs w/ outboards
1 paying job to sustain me until I get this up and running!

What I’m giving:

A nice “full access” community sailing center for ALL the people of Chattanooga. (Little known fact – Chattanooga had the world’s largest active Snipe fleet with over 50 boats racing each weekend! It was the Snipe International Headquarters, home of Mclaughlin Snipes and now is home of Mclaughlin Optimist).

Hmmmm...on the reasonable side, tickets for strictly sail in Chicago, some Keen Venice sandals, submersible casing/bag for my digital camera, new drytop and drypants that can be worn together as drysuit or separate, a marine grade flexible solar panel/charger.

On the more "wishful" side of wish-list...a micro or racemaster Tacktick compass, a new Laser or Lightning would be nice Smile, a wind/weather station and webcam for the sail club would be great...hmmm, a new fleet of club/junior program boats would just rock.

Dear Santabutt,

I would like a new Vangard Laser – Oceanic blue

My dad will need one of those cool “Eastport 32” coach boats with the drop down tailgate so I do not have to tow out to the race course.
It will need a few extra’s:
A couple of those weather buoys from Pyacht, with laptop and software
B&G wind instruments with Hercules performance processor.
A subscription to SIRIUS satellite radio for live weather updates
Bazooka Marine Tubby Tower Speakers with subwoofer (see SIRIUS above)
A Playstation 3 (for the ride out to the race course)
A Raymarine 45 STV satellite antenna and subscription to DirecTV – so Dad does not miss football games on Sunday.
Fishing rods – for no wind days
A wet bar with ice making machine (for Dad!)

I know I have not been a very good boy this year, but next year I will try harder.

Oh by the way my little sister wants a new Vangard opti.

I have been a very good "winch wench" this year. My wish list is short, but if fulfilled, will be great fun!

First, I wish to attend the "Women on the Water Week" in Virgin Gorda sponsored by the BEYC and West Marine January 6 - 13, 2007. Secondly, a gift certificate to Camet International for accessories would ensure that I am well-prepared for the exciting adventures of that week.

I have visions of fair winds, white sand and aqua water dancing in my head!

Cool
