HELP A SEA SCOUT. Log-In to Post/Reply

Hello my name is Shane, I'm a Sea Scout out of Pilot Point. looking for help, here a little info...

This June a small team of Connecticut teenagers will be on their way to long beach, CA for one of the most competitive youth regattas in the world. It's the 8th biannual William I. Koch international Sea Scout Cup. Organized by the sea scouts of America, this regatta takes the best youth sailors in the Sea Scout program from around the world and puts them in a 40 team, week long, fleet race challenge for a prize that rivals the America’s cup. Since this is a large event, the cost of travel, attendance, and the gear we need is rough for a small team such as ours. Our team is "challenger" and we are comprised of high school and college students from the state of Connecticut. Being able to attend this event would be the experience of a lifetime. Every kid at some point has wanted to play baseball, or football, or basketball, or compete in events like the World Series or the Olympics. Although sailing is a 'fringe sport' those of us that love it as much football or baseball also want to rise to the top one day, and competing in this event on an international stage would be a huge leap for everyone competing. In the end though, this event is about comradeship and engaging with people from different cultures instead of solely on winning. Although it is a race, it is an experience like no other and we would appreciate any help in order to make this dream come true. The total cost to attend this event for the week is $4000 and we would really appreciate your support to reach our goal.
